Feast - Day of the Redeemer

Dating back to 1576, this festival takes place every year on the third Sunday in July to honour Christ the Redeemer. Described as a celebration of light and sound, for this occasion, boats decorated with multi-coloured balloons and branches take to the waters of Giudecca Canal in St. Mark's Basin, while others line the lit banks of the canal. A fireworks display follows, and by the morning, the boats gather at the Lido to welcome the sunrise.
