    Dorsoduro
    Dorsoduro, which translates to spine or hard ridge, is so named for its high and most stable position in Venice. The districts largest attraction is probably the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute (Basilica of St Mary of Health/Salvation). This area is extrememly popular with tourists and is a sought after area to stay.

    San Polo
    San Polo is one of Venice's oldest districts and is the smallest of six official Sestieri in the city. Since 1097, San Polo has also been home to Venice's main market. The Rialto Bridge is located here, as well as a large collection of churches and palaces.

    Cannaregio
    Named for the canal of the same name that runs through this district, Cannaregio is one of Venice's six Sestieri and makes up the city's northern most point. The Cannaregio Canal was once the main route into the city, before the railway bridge and road bridge were built.

    Santa Croce
    One of the six official Sestieri of Venice, Santa Croce make up the city's northwest. The Piazzale Roma, Venice's bus station is located here, as well as some churches and more.

    San Marco
    One of the Six Sestieri of Venice, and perhaps the busiest tourist destination, San Marco lies in the city's heart; the famous Saint Mark's Square and Saint Mark's Basillica are among its most well-known attractions, but many other Venice landmarks are included here, include La Fenice theatre, San Beneto (Church of St Benedict) and more.
