The Ca D'Oro is one of the most striking of Venice's palazzos featuring some impressive gothic architecture. Museum of Natural History The Museum of Natural History got its home in 1921 thus uniting all the scientific artifacts once held in various museums into one collection. Doge's Palace For thousands of years, Venice's chief magistrate and the Republic of Venice was lead by the Doge or Duke. This position was an elected post, but was eliminated in 1797 after the reign of Napoleon. Today, parts of the Doge Palace are preserved as a museum of sorts, where visitors can explore, on a guided tour, such things as the Museo dell'Opera, ornate courtyard, former institutional chambers, former prisons and more. Museo Correr Formerly the Church of San Genuniane, the site took transformation with the addition of the Napoleonic Wing, during his reign, but wasn't completed until the after the Austrian Hasburgs took control of Venice. Therefore, the stucture displays the influence of both cultures. The musuem collection now houses Venetial cultural and historic exhibits as well as important Venetian art, including that of the famous sculptor Antonio Canova.
