Saint Mark's Square (Piazza San Marco)
The only true 'square' or piazza in Venice (all the rest are called Campo), Saint Mark's square is located in the city centre and has been the centre of Venetian culture for nearly a thousand years. The square, which is actually a trapazoid shape, is enclosed by St. Mark's Basilica and the Procuratie Vecchie and Nouve. Coffee shops, restaurants and designer boutiques now make their home here and contribute to the regular flocks of people that can be found here.
